The fund, the first of its kind in Shanghai, was initiated by 10 leading resident companies and industrial parks – operating in the fields of artificial intelligence, biological medicines, aerospace, marine engineering equipment and other key industries - in the Lin-gang Special Area.
The new facility for intellectual property - also known as IP - has initial funding of 1 million yuan ($154,000) and reportedly aims to provide comprehensive assistance to its members.
It will provide analysis and early warning services, enhance the awareness of IP rights protection, guide and finance dispute responses and build a one-stop coordination platform for IP rights protection.
The mutual fund is seen as helping to boost the awareness of member units about the specialist field and is also expected to boost the level of independent rights protection, so as to reduce overall business costs.
As a key element to a diversified IP rights protection system in Lin-gang, the fund will contribute to helping form a long-lasting market mechanism - especially in providing special funds, strengthening service teams, improving overseas services and developing a communications platform.
Moving forwards, Lin-gang plans to further improve the mutual-aid function of the fund. It will aim to develop a more convenient IP rights public services system and offer better services to businesses.
