The Lin-gang Special Area of the China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone launched a campaign to promote the construction of 5G communication infrastructure on Dec 23.
At the launch ceremony, the Lin-gang Special Area Administration issued Several Support Measures for Accelerating the Construction of 5G Communication Infrastructure in the Lin-gang Special Area and proposed building the area into a 5G eco-area with international influence.
Lin-gang plans to formulate a special plan for the spatial layout of 5G and other communication infrastructure in the area.
Relevant government departments will continue to optimize and simplify the approval process for the construction of communication infrastructure such as 5G base stations within the scope of their powers.
Areas and buildings under the jurisdiction of administrative organs, public institutions, and State-owned enterprises in the Lin-gang Special Area, as well as green spaces, scenic spots, railway stations, and roads, will be installed with 5G communication infrastructure at no charge.
Lin-gang will subsidize 5G base stations that were built, renovated, or began operating after August of this year. The subsidy covers electricity and renovation costs of 5G base stations.
A standard 30,000 yuan ($4,593) will be provided for electricity access and renovation fees for each completed base station. Electricity costs will be subsidized at 20 percent of the actual cost incurred by the communication operator and the tower company.
