Wu Xiaohua, deputy director of China (Shanghai) Pilot Free Trade Zone Lin-gang Special Area Administration, said at a Shanghai municipal government press conference on Feb 24 that Lin-gang Special Area has begun using the so-called "internet + investment promotion" approach to reduce the impact of the epidemic.

According to Wu, 12 industrial projects with investment of over 20 billion yuan ($2.87 billion) were signed online on Feb 13. The projects focus on third-generation semiconductor materials, design and process, while a number of projects focusing on artificial intelligence and integrated circuits, as well as influential foreign projects, are being discussed.

As of Feb 24, a total of 971 enterprises and more than 40,000 people had resumed work, including 98.7 percent of enterprises with an output value of more than 100 million yuan. Construction projects in the Lin-gang Special Area were resumed at 19 sites, with 1,602 employees returning to work.

To alleviate the impacts of the novel coronavirus pneumonia outbreak on local companies, the Lin-gang Special Area Administration launched 16 measures on Feb 10. So far, more than 16.5 million yuan in subsidies have been given, and 52 enterprises have received policy support.
